If the Mount option is missing from the right-click context menu in Windows, it typically means there’s an issue with the system’s handling of ISO files or the context menu settings. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and fix this issue:
Fix Missing Mount Option in Right Click Menu in Windows
1. Right-click on the ISO file, then select Properties from the context menu.
2. As you can see, the default app for opening ISO files is UltraISO, but the app has been removed. Therefore, Windows does not know which app to use to open this file type. Let’s click on the Change button.
3. In the pop-up window, select Windows Explorer, then click on the Set default button.
4. From now, all .iso files will be opened by Windows Explorer by default.
The Mount option should be available in the context menu when you right-click on an ISO file.
Set the default app for a file type
Alternatively, you can configure the default app to open ISO files using Windows Settings.
1. Open Windows Settings → Apps → Default apps.
2. Type .iso in the search box, then select + Choose a default link.
3. In the new window opened, the select the Windows Explorer then set it as the default app to open ISO files.
When you right-click on any ISO file, the “Mount” option should be available for mounting it to a virtual drive.
