Microsoft plants to disable Basic Authentication in October, 2022. In this article, how to check your Outlook app is using Basic or Modern Authentication to connect to Exchange Online.
1. Open Microsoft Outlook app.
2. Press and hold button and right click on the Outlook icon in the Taskbar then select Connection Status…
3. In the Outlook Connection Status window, under Authn column, if the authentication method is Clear*. It means you’re using Basic Authentication to connect to Exchange Online.
If the authentication type is Bearer, it means you’re using Modern Authentication method to connect to Exchange Online.
